This Traditional licence is located immediately north of the Captain oil field within the Inner Moray Firth. The primary focus on the block is the Upper Jurassic Buzzard Sandstone Formation ‘Churchward’ prospect. This is a large combination structural/straigraphic trap located on the northern flank of the Halibut Horst within the Smith Bank Graben. Additional prospectivity has been identified in the Lower Cretaceous Scapa sands.
The work programme consists of obtaining and reprocessing seismic data and undertaking additional geotechnical studies. Once the work is completed it is likely that the company will be seeking partners to join in the drilling of an exploration well on the ‘Churchward’ prospect.
