This converted Promote licence is located on the southern flank of the Jura Sub-Basin adjacent to the Scapa and Claymore oil fields. Two Upper Jurassic Piper Formation prospects have been mapped on the block – Oberon and Oberon West. Both prospects are structural traps located on the terraced flanks of the Jura Sub-Basin which forms the local hydrocarbon kitchen. High quality Piper Formation reservoir is proven adjacent to the prospects by the 14/23-1 well which encountered 40m of 95% net to gross reservoir.
The work programme consists of evaluating the Upper Jurassic interval utilising recently acquired 3D seismic data and undertaking further geotechnical studies. Once this work has been completed it is likely that the company will be seeking partners to join in the drilling of an exploration well.
